Handyman Club Of America - Where did the club go?
I am a "lifetime" member of the Handyman Club dating back about 18 or more years! The club was good and the magazines were great!
All of a sudden the magazines stopped coming and I tried many times to contact the club to find out why my books stopped coming. I made numerous attempts to locate a working number for the company without success. When I tried to logon to the website some "gambling" business would come up under the Handyman name talking about "Sports Betting". I even tried to look them up in the Minnesota BBB, but had no success.
It is so unfair that you can "sell" lifetime memberships and then without further notice just go "out - of - business"!
I wish that there was something that could be done about such a dishonest tactic. Perhaps a class action suit to address the club's actions.
Reason of review: Poor customer service.
Monetary Loss: $1000.
Preferred solution: Deliver product or service ordered.
Handyman Club Of America Pros: Magazine articles and some of the offers the made.

Same for me! No notification or any correspondence saying going under! ANOTHER case of piss-poor management?
Same for us too! To bad we can't get our money back!!!
Same for me
I still have some of the old magazines from 1995. maybe I could reread.
I too am a Master lifetime member with completely paid up costs for the service and have never been updated in quite a while. I have not received anything in several years and cannot get anyone to get back to me.
I even went the extra mile with the Jackets and all. If anyone has any info please acknowledge it, Did it form in to handyman magazine which I also receive?
Last I knew they were trying to get me to pay for the magazine again which I was a lifetime member expecting to get it for free and from there I never got them anymore
I knew there was a problem a while ago. They would stop sending the magazine if you didn't respond to their postcards.
I was a charter member and still have the stuff they gave out to get you to join. The family handyman is a better magazine. Too bad about THCofA.
They could have at least told us! I guess some companies just have no class.
I too have been a Life Member since 11/95. I moved and tried to contact them to forward my magazine but could not find any contact information. It is so sad that they never contacted us to tell us all about their changes.
Today I managed to find a BBB site in Minnesota where I filed a complaint against The Handy Man Club for contract violations of the "Life Membership" offer. Below is the address and URL that I used to file the complaint.
I encourage my fellow life members to take the time to do the same. Maybe just maybe we will receive some kind of relief to our complaints!

I have been a life member since 04/97, no more magazines and cannot contact anyone. what a *** way to treat people.
I too paid for a lifetime membership and have not heard anything from the club since I received the junk tools from them in the beginning and have not received any magazines since then either..............
Same here, even after receiving their "We haven't heard from you in a while" post card.
Hi,
Did the post card list a phone number or email address that a person could use to contact the company? If so can you share it with all of us that are in the same situation as you. Perhaps we can join forces and get some action on behalf of all of those who have been treated unfairly.
Yes! It would be nice to have the email address/phone number!
I too have been a member for maybe 15 years and haven't received anything from the club for a very long time. I don't have my member number anymore either.
